Coastal Heritage

This two-level apartment in a heritage Sydney beachside building showcases a masterful blend of Art Deco elegance and contemporary coastal living. Our studio was engaged to refresh this top-floor residence for a young family while respecting its 1920s architectural provenance.

The transformation opened previously compartmentalised spaces to welcome abundant natural light, with the kitchen now positioned to maximise illumination. A complete reconfiguration prioritises the spectacular ocean views, connecting the upper-level living space to an outdoor entertaining terrace.

A gentle palette of oceanic blues paired with amber, oak and stone creates a sophisticated coastal aesthetic, while hand-blown Murano glass sconces add warmth throughout. Original decorative plaster ceilings and architraves were preserved and complemented by custom wainscoting.

The result is a cohesive, light-filled home that honours its Art Deco heritage while embracing modern family living - sophisticated, inviting, and truly cohesive.
